Power animals come from Shamanism. A power animal is seen as a guardian spirit, which takes the form of an animal. A power animal is seen as a guide, a protector, a guardian of our personal power.
Everyone has their own power animals and has multiple power animals. Some animals always stay with you, other animals come if the situation allows it and it is necessary. A power animal can show us something about our inner self and the primal instincts and our foundation that contains the inner self.
